Deadline XI: The Reunion

Deadline XI, hosted at Tropicasa in McAllen, Texas, on Fri. Feb. 3, is a reigniting of Lone Star and global Drum and Bass (DNB) music history. The idea began along the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) in the early 2000s by creativity and the need to create something new locally. Influenced by the name of a DNB anthem created by the UK/NZ artist, Digital. The events have welcomed guest DJs from as far as London and New York to Houston and California. The standard word among visiting artists was always about how great of a crowd and vibe there was in the RGV.

Jaime Hinojosa aka Fuse, had the vision to create a night for the sound to grow in McAllen and surrounding areas. He pulled together the venue, amazing sound and talent, with many RGV artists supporting however they could. Seemed like a crazy concept at the time, but in reality, it transformed into some legendary nights. The sound is embraced by the deep south Texas border region to this day.

DNB continues to thrive worldwide, currently experiencing its fourth renaissance in over 30 years. Post-pandemic, it seems as good a time as any to reunite, feel the sound and celebrate this bass music together again, or for a first experience. Be there, come in peace and brock it out.
